Due to this, various diseases occur in this part, such as xerophthalmia due to reduced secretion of tears and unstable tear film, keratitis due to the infection of bacteria and viruses, keratopathy due to systemic disease, congenital corneal opacity, and corneal ulcer. These diseases are treated by using drugs, treatment lens, or laser treatment according to the condition. In severe cases, surgery is performed. Amniotic membrane transplantation or cornea transplantation is performed if necessary. The department has 7 cornea specialists who are engaged in the treatment and research.
